Disney’s Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs premiered at the Carthay Circle Theatre on December 21, 1937.
To promote the movie, two days before the premiere, the cast of Snow White made its first appearance on radio during The Chase and Sanborn Hour. The Chase and Sanborn Hour was one of the most popular radio shows in 1937 and featured Edgar Bergan and Charlie McCarthy (who would later appear in Disney’s Fun and Fancy Free).
A 20 minute segment of this radio show was recently discovered and it includes the complete Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs segment.
In this clip, you’ll hear pieces of the songs Heigh-Ho and Whistle While You Work. You’ll also hear the first appearances of Grumpy, Sneezy, Doc, The Snow Queen, The Snow Witch, The Magic Mirror and Snow White.
