This Splendid Chimaera Cake was made for the Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them Collaboration.
The collaboration of food artists from around the world, known as Birthday Mischief Managed have assembled to debut their second installment of edible art in celebration of world-renowned author, J.K. Rowling’s screenwriting debut and newest movie trilogy – “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them”.
“Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them”, is an A to Z “textbook” of magical creatures that have been featured in the Potter film series and publishing’s of J.K. Rowling. For this collaborative effort some of the beasts were removed from the list inside the textbook and each artist was asked to create the remaining using only their imaginations and the book’s descriptions with sweet edible mediums. Each artist has dressed for the occasion and transformed themselves into "Magizoologist". Be sure to visit their pages and read the documents kept about their beast.
Our biggest challenge was resisting the urge to research, (cheat) pictures of our assigned beasts. The group has made sweet magic. My only regret is not having a pet Kneazle.” - Michelle "ChefMitchie" Curran aka Michaeleas Cuuragusta, Headmistress
Here is Jacqui’s description of this Fabulous Edible Beast:
From Greek origins - Chimera traditionally are created from three different animals: lion, goat and serpent however in the mystical world this little hatchling has the body of a Welsh Green Dragon, which is also one of the heads, the other heads are from a Pegicorn which is already a mix of Unicorn and Pegasus and the final head comes from the Fantastical Phoenix
Notable Behaviours: At this young age of under a year they are creatures of mischief and mayhem - creating all sorts of magic shenanigan
Feeding notes: 4 leaf clover is their favourite although mention ice-cream and they will be your friend for life. As they grow so do their taste buds and they develop a taste for the extraordinary - rainbow snails, three toed salamanders, drew drenched spiders webs and the froth from the tops of a wishing wells are amongst their favourites
They have never been known to injure any one although they fiercely protect all other fantastical and mystical creatures
Be careful when you look into their eyes or speak with them as they can instantly tell if you are lying or stretching the truth......the feathers and tears from the Pegicorn can cure all ills and the breath of the Welsh Green has been known to toast marshmallows to perfection as well as cleanse your garden for nasty sprogwart that will eat your vegetables.
